Experience new music by James Macmillan, Eric Whitacre and Roland FudgeThe music for the day will include will offer opportunities to experience recently composed works by two internationally acclaimed composers, Eric Whitacre and James Macmillan, whose music has gained wide recognition, and our own Roland Fudge.
Roland’s music is being enjoyed by an ever- widening circle of performers and listeners and we are delighted that he has accepted the CCI commission to write a major new work for our 2010 concert. Roland has recently achieved success with a work submitted to the BBC Music Magazine in response to an invitation from the Henschel Quartet.
CCI's Musical Director, Ian Jones, will lead the day, with Tony Milledge providing the accompaniment.
Ian has wide experience as a choral conductor with his own choir, Levens Choir, but also with other local choirs, notably Ambleside and Eversley, and is particularly committed to extending the knowledge and performance of new or less well-known music, particularly by British composers. Ian is also increasingly in demand for choral days and workshops and greatly enjoys these opportunities to help singers extend their knowledge and enjoyment of the repertoire.
Tony is well-known as a choral director, arranger and composer.
