Many of you will remember the Finzi Weekend Festival we staged in 2001. To celebrate the life of Ralph Vaughan Williams, who died in 1958, we are staging a second such Festival in Kendal and Cartmel.

Friday 11th July

Evening concert of choral and instrumental music given by the Pro Nobis Singers and Stonebridge
Quartet in Cartmel Priory


Saturday 12th July

Morning recital of music from Tudor England for given by The Consort Of Four and Pieces Of Eight in
Kendal Unitarian Chapel

Midday lecture by James Day of the RVW Society, with buffet lunch in the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal

Afternoon open rehearsal of the Choral and Orchestral Concert. Or guided walk round Kendal led by
members of the Civic Society

Early evening pre-concert talk by James Day of the RVW Society in Kirkland Hall, Kendal

Evening Festival Choral and Orchestral Concert in Kendal Parish Church featuring Vaughan Williams'
Dona Nobis Pacem and The Lark Ascending plus Walton's Belshazzar's Feast


Sunday 13th July

Morning Festival Service in Cartmel Priory featuring Vaughan Williams' Mass in G Minor sung by Levens
Choir

Afternoon recital of English Song in the Brewery Arts Centre given by Nicholas Hurndall Smith and Rachel
Little accompanied by Andrew Leavett and The Stonebridge Quartet

Past events

From Beethoven's Missa Solemnis in 2000 to Berlioz' Messe Solennelle in 2007, taking in a Finzi Centenary weekend, Orff's Carmina Burana and Britten's War Requiem along the way, CCI has organised a variety of large scale musical events over the last few years.
